Afrim Kupa, 37, left blood at the scene of the crime.Kupa and a team of burglars used a blowtorch to cut through the roof of the Astoria Federal Savings bank in February last year. They made off with 64 safety deposit boxes and more than $250,000 in cash. The total value stolen is unknown because safe deposit box owners rarely tell authorities how much cash they are storing in them.Kupa has been involved in break-ins at banks and jewelery stores since the 1990s.Kupa is being held without bail in the federal Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
