About half of all organization conduct criminal background checks to reduce legal liability for negligent hiring and to ensure a safe work environment for employees.
The top convictions that influence hiring decisions are violent felonies and non-violent felonies. 58% of organizations allow job candidates to explain the results of their criminal backgrounds before the hiring decision is made.
