New York Restricts Access to Some Misdemeanor Records

On March 31, 2014, the New York Office of Court Administration announced that – effective April 1, 2014 – it will no longer report a criminal history for any individual whose only conviction was a single misdemeanor more than ten years before the date of the request.

The New York Office of Court Administration supplies criminal history records to the public. Its new policy is to no longer report a single misdemeanor if more than ten years have elapsed and no other criminal history exists.

Liberty Screening will continue to monitor the pending legislation and policy changes affecting access to criminal history and report these changes to you.
